This met an O.W.L’s prompt! Woot!
I really wish I would have read this when I was younger and before I’ve seen all the adaptations. I have loved the story that I’ve seen played out on screen. While this is still that same story, there was A LOT in here that I became bored with. According to Goodreads, I have a minority rating compared to a lot of my friends- so sorry!
This was a really slow read for me! I’m not sure if it was the plot, the writing or a mix of it all. One of my favorite characters has always been Jo, but in this, she was not one of my favorites. I actually became a bit bored and annoyed with her and that makes me sad! I also hated the ending. I know the ending but because I got SO much more of these girls personalities, I was not the biggest fan of a pairing (avoiding a spoiler).
There’s still a lot of lessons to be learned and they were still great. Although, some of the time that it took to get to them was rather long. I definitely preferred the time before the time jump into their lives in the future. I really just did not care for how things came about or where handled.
I haven’t had the best luck with classics but I can’t wait to watch the new movie adaptation of this. Is it too much to ask for an alternate ending?! haha. I think my biggest complaint was how slow this was and at times there was just too much detail.
