A Court of Mist and Fury
by Sarah J. Maas
Plot or Character Driven:
Character
Strong character development:
Yes
A lot of telling not showing. It kinda works but when it comes to like to tamlin who goes from just a guy with not much of a personality to this cartoonish villain it feels sloppy and lazy
The characters are simple and blunt but can be somewhat interesting and fun if you're in the mood for it.
It's nothing revolutionary, but overall it can be a fun book.
One thing I did really like is that in general she tries to have Feyre somewhat move the story forward not just stand there being powerfully without actually doing anything. Its a slowpaced book so it's not like it hapoens all the time. But credit to her for that.
For the series in general so far I would say that I enjoy reading them and there's definitely potential for the characters and relationships to be fun to read.
BUT the writing just takes me out sometimes. Even though generally it's okay, there are scenes that I just don't enjoy reading at all even though imaging them in my head I can see how they may have been pretty and fun and how they could've hit the points I think she was trying to make. But there are phases while reading that I'm just sitting there not enjoying a few of her choices in the slightest, slightly wondering what jn the world I'm reading
