I feel like I should have reminded myself of book one before reading, or read the two books closer together. I had a little trouble jumping back in and remembering the smaller events of Drums, Girls & Dangerous Pie. It might also have had to do with the change of narrator. In book one, it's Steven talking to us and in book two it's Jeff.

This is after Jeff has been cleared of his cancer and it goes in a whole new direction from other cancer books. This book is all about navigating life after having cancer and the after affects that may linger.

It's also about friendship and what we do for other people we care about. Tad and Lindsey show Jeff what it is to truly care about another person and want only the best for them.

And in the end, it's also about loss and what that loss does to us as the ones left behind.
