The Ersatz Elevator
by Lemony Snicket
I have enjoyed every moment of this series, as it is my first book series to fully read and have enjoyed it. When I started this book, I was so full with excitement to finally see that happens in the end! And I am happy to say that the ending was suited to this amazing yet unfortunate story. This was one of my favourites in this series, I especially love Violet because she is the inventor but then I feel a connection to Klaus because he adores books as much as I do.
2nd read:
I still think Olaf is a truly great villain. Despite it being a children’s book the author makes him as real as any other villain - threatening lives and depicting him as highly intelligent. I think the contrast between Olaf and the other adults in the book highlights the unjust nature of the world, because even though people like Mr Poe and Jerome mean well they just don’t make a difference. Whereas Olaf - the one villain, impacts the Baudelaires to such a great extent.
