this feels like a book I'd have written if I were a straight woman. Or not, I don't know.
I have so much criticism for this book. for example how it barely dwells on post partum depression but instead focuses more on the ages old question of women and their assigned roles of motherhood and womanhood versus their careers. And even then, it doesn't answer this question.
However, I enjoyed how she represented her inner conflicts in the form of the Thumbelinas, I thought it was very clever and really funny at times. I also enjoyed the stories of all the women authors she mentioned despite struggling sometimes to find a connection between why is this story of biography significant to her story at that period of her life and why she's telling it to us. It felt almost as if she was just saying "look, this, this and this happened and this tragic ending happened as a consequence to this woman now let's get back to me with this event that's kinda unrelated"
Finally, I really didn't like Blue Belle Bovary. Felt a little too "legally blonde feminism". What was even her argument?
Overall, I didn't gain much from this experience.
