Daydream
by Hannah Grace
emotional
funny
lighthearted
medium-paced
I'm so beyond disappointed by this book - what the hell. It felt like whatever planning/writing style/plot types Hannah used in books 1 and 2 she threw out the window and gave us this.
Our FMC and MMC (*sighs disappointedly* Henry) weren't bad - obviously I love Henry and was so excited for his book - I love how Henry and Halle understand one another like no one else. I loved watching Halle come into her own and be surrounded by good friends and confronting her family (although the family thing felt rushed).
Disappointments (mostly smut complaints lol):
- WHY WERE THE SEX SCENES SO BAD! After books 1 and 2 we KNOW where the bar is, and damn did this fall so flat.
- We have a "Oh you like being told what to do" AND THEN NOTHING - no telling her what to do in the bedroom. Boooo
- That paint scene could have been so hot - but we get some nice build up and then wham bam thank you ma'am it's done.
- We hear about all the sex their having and GET NO DETIALS
- I hate that she's a virgin - but I get it - it's just not my cup of tea
- I'm so upset Henry's friends let him get away with the bullshit of him berating himself for so long.
- Sad/mad at Henry and Anastasia's storyline and that they struggle. Not only because we already love both characters and I would want to know more about how Anastasia was doing
- He just kinda ghosts her for weeks?! Nah fam - I hate that.
- She reads romance books and we don't get any "I'll reenact something from your book" - rude
- We see Will more than anyone want's, but never get a resolution there. He's just unconfronted and a giant douche out there in the ether. I hate it
- I feel like we're reusing Henry having to explain what shitty things a dude said about a woman in Henry's life and it felt redundant.
Please give me a JJ novella with him and his husband to make up for this.
