Nettle & Bone
by T. Kingfisher
The best book I've read from T. Kingfisher so far. I was afraid to try it at first because I don't read horror at all, but it wasn't one. Dark fantasy/fairytale with horror elements? Yes, but nothing too scary. I loved everything about the book: the plot, its execution, its conclusion, the worldbuilding, and most of all, the characters (where else do you have a quest story featuring a sheltered nun, Granny Weathrewax-like necromancer, a crazy chicken lady, a himbo, a demon-possessed chicken, and a bone dog; not to mention the average age of the main characters is 50+...). And last but not least, it's super funny. I'm going to buy a physical copy for my collection.
