Something about this one didn't hit me quite the same as the first book. It was like it was trying to fit in as many mythological creatures/myths as possible so it felt a little disingenuous to me. I still liked the characters a lot, but the dichotomy between the two seems massive.

The ending was predictable and lackluster. The whole book was missing the spice and sass that the first book had. It wasn't bad, but it was kind of boring and I found myself zoning out a lot. I love mythology so this was right up my alley and yet I just wasn't really interested in this because everything was dumped into your lap so quickly that it didn't even feel believable. The antagonists were lame and cookie-cutter and

the main one from the previous book was just conveniently dead when the main characters were finally meant to face off with her?! What the hell was that shit?

All and all, a big bummer of a follow up.
