Swift and Saddled by Lyla Sage

I truly enjoyed this book... actually I devoured it. I read it in about 4 hours in one sitting, foregoing sleep so I could discover more of the characters. I couldn't get enough of Ada and Wes. The pacing was great; the story progressed without feeling that it was rushing or dragging anywhere. This was a great follow up to 'Done and Dusted.' I can't wait to read the third book in the series now!!

Wes' and Ada's individual issues to work through were relatable and told with care. They both were trying to prove something to themselves for themselves. I loved seeing Ada's inner monologue about being thought of as 'bitchy' and 'mean' when she was just plain shy. It makes you start to readjust the views you have of people that you originally thought of as mean or aloof and how there might be more underneath the surface if you are patient enough. Seeing her slowly become friends with the other girls without being corny or becoming instant-bffs was refreshing. Her finding herself after the way she sidetracked herself was inspiring.

I appreciated the mental health rep in this book without making it Wes' major plot point. He was calm, cool, and collected throughout this book. I loved that he's a 'soft-boy.' He treated everything with strong but gentle kindness and with the patience of a saint. The way he respected Ada and her wishes, despite wanting the opposite was truly enjoyable. In a world full of insta-love stories wherever you turn (technically Wes might fall into that category, but), it was fun, enjoyable, pleasurable, satisfying, etc... to watch the tension build between these two throughout the pages.

I genuinely can't remember the last time I lost track of time when reading because I got so lost in a book. I've been in a bit of a reading slump and this kicked me right out of it. Thank you to Lyla Sage for once again creating a world in which I could lose myself for a little bit. Also, meeting you last night was really cool! Can't wait for the rest of the series!!
