So Lucky by Nicola Griffith

This was an excellent book. It is a semi-autobiographical fiction novel, as the author has MS and put a lot of herself into the main character, who finds out about her diagnosis right at the start of the book. Mara's wife has left her, her best friend with sexual tension is moving across the world, and she is diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The story follows her as she grapples with her body's changes and what then also changes in her life re: work, transportation, etc. The book is written in first person so we as readers really know what is going on in Mara's head as she deals with the emotional ups and downs as she discovers what it means to exist as a disabled person. As someone with undiagnosed health issues that effectively have become invisible disabilities, this was such a gripping read and I read it in one sitting.
