So This Is Ever After
by F.T. Lukens
I read this because of Carry On.
I mean, similar premise, similar coloring on the cover, Carry On mentioned in the blurb.
What could go wrong?
A lot. A lot could go wrong.
Where Carry On was Light, and Fluffy, and the romance was warm and sweet this one was.. angsty. Very angsty.
I'm not exaggerating when I say I haven't cried like this since the last time someone broke my heart and dumped my ass.
I broke out in tears twice, the last one was me sobbing for an hour while trying to read through the tears (which I didn't do very well mind you) to get to the proclaimed Happy Ending.
Am I having a night? Am I being particularly sensitive? I cannot tell you.
This book was about two very stupid teenagers in love, so stupid and so loyal and so dedicated to the other person that they're terrified of proclaiming said love because they rather be in misery and be friends than confess and maybe be happy.
But that wasn't all, in the end the stakes was the MC's life. Be bonded or die. Have you ever loved someone so much where you'd rather die than trap someone by your side when they potentially wouldn't want to be there? Fucking wrecked me.
And then the after word where the author DARED to proclaim this was them trying to write a romcom. You do not get to emotionally destroy me and then call it a romcom mister!
