Entirely readable if you like some or all of the following topics: dressage horses, lawyers, murders, vampires, werewolves, elves. However, key parts of the universe remain unexplained (why are there no women vamps or weres? How special IS Lucky Linnet?) and there are some truly confusing time jumps to tell 'earlier that day' scenes rather unnecessarily, so, although I went onto the second book since it was right in front of me, I won't be continuing the series.
