The Institute

5 stars-- The Institute by Stephen King
-
So much yes to this book. I devoured this book in less than a day. I loved this book. Like others, the first section was confusing in the sense that it had nothing to do with my kids. But in true Stephen King fashion, it aligned perfectly later on. And by the time it happened (about 400 pages in), it did not feel like it took too long. It was perfect. The story telling was well done. The Institute itself was written about in a way that made me feel all the feels for those kids. You felt their loneliness and despair.
-
My biggest letdown was the show down scene. It felt a bit dragged out for something not as eventful as it could have been. Some did not like the part after, but I enjoyed it. I felt like I had full closure and I may or may not have gotten a tad emotional myself.
-
Though this is 5 stars, I do not recommend for everyone because SK is not always everyone's cup of tea. And 500+ pages might be a turn off for some. I found the 500+ pages well worth it.
