Enjoyed this more than the first one. There were more twists and turns and some of them very unexpected. I’m still not feeling the chemistry between Avery and Jameson. I just don’t care about the two of them together. If I can’t feel it, it must not be written very well right? Or is it just me being salty? idk 🤷🏻♀️ Is Jameson supposed to be sexy and mysterious? I mostly found him annoying. Grayson is more interesting, even though his ice cold exterior makes it very hard for any personality to shine through. I enjoyed seeing a little bit of his armor chip away at times.
Really enjoyed Max as the comic relief this book and I also wish we got more of Libby and Nash. I’m so rooting for them to get together! I’m worried it’s going to happen off screen though, because they’re side characters 😔 I would totally read a spin-off about them. Bonus chapter pretty please? 🙊
My conclusion about this series so far is that Jennifer Lynn Barnes is good at writing mysteries, but her characters leave a lot to be desired. Would love to see some more depth to them in the final book.
