The Happy Sleeper: The Science-Backed Guide to Helping Your Baby Get a Good Night's Sleep-Newborn to School Age
by Heather Turgeon, Daniel J. Siegel, Julie Wright
I have yet to really try out these methods, as my baby is only five weeks old, but a lot of the book makes practical sense to me. Unfortunately, it seems there's not much you can do before four months old, which is of course, as a sleep-deprived parent, not what I wanted to hear. It also seems like the sections about napping were really written for parents who stay at home with their kids and can control their naptime environment. It didn't seem to me that it would translate well to the daycare environment. I also liked that the book addressed issues such as potty-training and kids sharing rooms. We used the Ferber method with our first child, so I'm looking forward to something a little more gentle this time around, although I'm not sure it's all that different in practice.
