To be honest, I didn't know I needed a sequel after "The handmaid's tale". Even though it ended a bit abruptly for my liking, I couldn't possibly think how the story could move on further. Well, let me tell you, I was amazed by "The Testatments", it was a solid sequel and a story I immensely enjoyed!

We follow three different POVs, all of them girls and all of them connected one way or another, ways I'm not going to spoil here, because everyone should simply pick this up and read it! My favourite POV out of the three was definitely Aunt Lydia's, a character that intrigued so much in "The handmaid's tale" and now we get insight to her origin story and her thoughts and machinations, aspects that make the novel all the more engaging and intresting. She's my favourite character, even though she's done inexcusable things to survive, but I can't help but admire her survival instinct, as she didn't only survive the regime, she managed to secure a position of utmost power for herself and thus bring down Gilead.

The writing style is very elegant and straight-forward, Atwood doesn't lose time by extravagant descriptions of places and people, she's writes exactly what's needed for the reader to feel Gilead's atmosphere, but not make them feel bored. I also think that the lack of descriptions serves another purpose as well; Gilead citizens don't know much about their country, they live pretty sheltered lives, so the reader got exactly the same amoutn of information a Gileadean would, to make the feeling of cluelessness even more prominent.

Overall, it's no secret I enjoyed this book very much. It was a refreshing read and I felt such satisfaction towards the ending, because what I was hoping happened and I couldn't help but celebrate the ending of this book. It was quite thrilling at times, especially when they were plotting and devising plans and it also made me laugh, Daisy had some funny lines I appreciated a lot! All in all, it's a very wholesome book that will answer a lot of questions regarding the ending of "the handmaid's tale" and what happened next to many beloved characters.
