Prisoners of Geography
by Tim Marshall
I can only wish geography lessons in high school were this complex and interesting; and I say it as a person who studied geography and cartography at university. 10/10, I'm definitely recommending it to anyone and everyone.
My only complain is about the subtitle: Ten Maps That Tell You Everything You Need to Know About Global Politics. The book has nothing to do with maps (and everything to do with geography). Yes, these are two separate things (^_^;) The maps that are in the book are somewhat lacking the details needed to illustrate points mentioned in the chapters. And there are some maps (I'm looking at you, the Arctic) that were probably designed in color and then printed black and white and it did not work very well...
So. The cartographer in me is a bit disappointed, but the geographer doesn't give a damn and still gives 10/10 :) (if it weren't for the subtitle, I wouldn't mention maps at all).
