More Than Enough: Claiming Space for Who You Are (No Matter What They Say)
by Elaine Welteroth
Wow! I can confidently say that this is my favorite book of 2019, when with two months to go. Elaine Welteroth is one of my favorite people on social media. I honestly had no idea who she was until one random day on Instagram. You know when you’re on someone’s page, and end up on thousands of others? Yea, me too... anyway she instantly became a favorite of mine because she spoke her truth. I didn’t say the truth. I said hers. I think I’m most proud of her parents. A black mom & White dad who raised her and her brother in love. She said they decided long before having kids how they were going to raise them. Not to choose sides but to prepare them for a world that would only see them as black. Biracial parents, put your pride aside and do the same... because this is America, and that’s how they’ll be seen.
