Julie Klassen does a wonderful job of blending a relaxing historical fiction with an intriguing mystery. The ideas and ideals of the time period are captured well, making them as much a part of the story as the characters and setting. The characters feel very real and believable, swayed by charms and manners, seeing things that may or may not be there, and jumping to conclusions sometimes too quickly. The story is full of questions waiting to be answered, and twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end.
