Let me start by saying: this is the first book in the series and I read them horribly out of order. That happened because I watched this movie last year and then it was too soon to try and read the book. Then I read Leah's book last month (I think?) and another of Albertalli's this month and decided to read the rest of the series, so I went back to book two and then did the epilogue novella that is book 3.5 and then that made me want to read this one finally. So glad I did! This is my second favorite of the series, partially because it shows where everything starts and I love an origin story, but also because the story about Simon writing anonymous emails to another gay boy at his school, being blackmailed and eventually outed is an important one to tell. Plus it's a dang cute love story full of great representation! Now I want to watch the movie again!
