Oh my gosh, this book! This is definitely one of my first favorite books of the year and I have read a lot of amazing books so far this year.
Enchantèe takes place right before the French Revolution in Paris and Versailles. Camille and her sister Sophie are struggling to make ends meet, their brother Alain always wants money from them, and they are starving. After Camille is done with Alain always coming around to take their things, she decides to rob the aristocrats in Versailles by cheating at gambling by using a glamorie.
I loved all the characters in this book and they were super well written. You feel sympathy, hate, and love for a lot of the characters. The magic system is clever and I love how Camille uses her magic to turn cards and put on a disguise to win a lot of money. However, with magic comes great responsibility and has consequences.
I definitely recommend this book, you will not want to miss out on this and see Camille, Sophie, and Lazare’s life unfold with trying to figure where they fit in.
