It’s definitely a confusing play to read on its own. If you were to read it, just take everything at face value. I know that sounds obvious, but it makes sense when you read it.
The ending is a bit confusing, but that’s probably because I’m not watching a bunch of Harvard students in 1915. MAYBE then, I could have made sense.
I did have fun with it, though. Seeing the two sides of theater. Those being: a short story writer’s perspective, and a playwright’s broadway perspective.
