myntop 's review for:
Reconstructing Amelia
by Kimberly McCreight
I was a little nervous that I wouldn't like this book. It was chosen for my book club and is outside the genre that I normally read. However, I found myself instantly drawn into the story and anxious to find out what really happened to Amelia.
This was a hard subject for me to read about. As a mother, it's difficult to imagine your kids having a life that you don't know about. Discovering secrets that Amelia had hidden from her mother must have been so painful.
I did like the way the story ended. It wasn't tied neatly in a bow all nice and clean, but there was a sense of closure for the reader and I think for Kate. There are still questions, but not ones that will make the reader angry for not knowing it all.
I recommend this book for lovers of mystery, realistic fiction with some tragedy involved, and crime fiction.
