karuwus 's review for:
Kings Rising
by C.S. Pacat
dec.23 - jan.24 reread
took me forever to finish this reread because i simply didn’t want to go through that one final stress as everything unraveled and fell into place. oof.
on my first read through, i found this to be my favorite book in the trilogy, but now, upon rereading, i think it’s actually the second book. which is funny because i could only love the second book more after reading the third, and that’s just kudos all around.
c. s. pacat has written a series of exquisite slow burn, friends to lovers, a specific brand of pining and longing, with a dash of political intrigue and an impressive gift to highlighting the exact things to make you love a character. and it’s almost devastating how hard it is to come upon something as well written as this, in these tropes specially, outside the realm of fanfiction.
i can’t wait to read more mature work from her, whenever, and if it ever comes, i’m just waiting for her ya trilogy to be completed to read it.
ugh, i barely spoke of this book itself,,, but my mans, if you’re looking for a reason to read this trilogy and stumble upon this review, if you have anything of the same taste as i, just read it.

first review (aug.23)
i did NOT expect to enjoy this book quite as much as i did?? but this series was genuinely enemies to lovers and the slowest of burns and this third and final installment is For Sure the best book out of the three.
is this the best series ever? no. is this quite problematic in some stances? yes, ofc. was this Wildly Entertaining? Yes!!!!
