I don't know if it's the author's writing or just that the main character is so unlikeable--I had trouble with The Hunger Games trilogy for this same reason--but I have to say I'm glad I read this book. It's very different from anything I usually read and offers interesting insights into how a character doesn't grow as a human being but as a monster.
