I sobbed re-reading Firefly Lane (my husband was concerned) and I also cried a little, mainly at the beginning, reading this sequel. It was SO sad. I didn't want everything to be so hard for the characters that had already been through so much. There were some beautiful moments and some frustrating ones. I wished we got to see more of Johnny and the boys; it felt like there was not equivalent development there.
