The Black Feathers
by Rebecca Netley
This was a well written and atmospheric read. I really enjoyed the twists and turns even if they were a little predictable. It had the perfect gothic vibes I was craving and the characters had some depth to them that was interesting to explore and think about. The themes of grief and the effect of trauma was inherent throughout the plot. Questions of “what is a mother” and “what makes a caring parent?” Were key throughout and really gave pause for thought with every twist and turn. The only reason this isn’t the full 5 rating for me is that the ending was a little rushed. I would have liked to have time with the characters to see the after effects.
