Honestly, I can't even think of the words to accurately sum up how this book made me feel. I don't think I have ever had my feelings of conflict/ annoyance/ anger/ sadness/ pride of being a brown person growing up and living in the UK so accurately captured before. It's a difficult time for POC in this country at the minute, and this collection of essays does a great job in sharing personal stories to reflect why it's difficult, how frustrating it is to have to deal with, and, no matter how much people seem to insist racism doesn't exist anymore, the everyday occurrences that show how skin colour is often the defining factor of how people react to us.

I laughed and cried at various points during this book. I want to go and have a pint with each of the contributing authors and share more stories!

More than anything, I want every single person I know to read this - either for catharsis, or to increase the understanding of what it's like to not be white in the UK.
