I don't read much adult fantasy so I don't have much to compare this too, but I generally enjoyed reading it. Some of the stories were boring at times because they took too long to actually introduce the monster or the conflict and I don't like the characters enough to care when nothing was happening. I did like how the stories are connected and all contribute to a larger narrative and I think this is an interesting way to get to know the world and the main character. The world and the characters are interesting enough to keep me reading, but aren't particularly memorable. I will continue with the series because I want to know what happens and I did generally enjoy reading The Last Wish, but I don't know how long the series will hold my attention.
