I am really enjoying this trilogy. I sped through this book in a day (admittedly helped by a long time spent sitting in a waiting room). It is generally a fast read, but also incredibly gripping. 

There is perhaps some 'middle book syndrome' (as I've heard it called) perceivable in Chasing the Shadows. While my enjoyment was always high, compared to book one this had fewer major events and revelations through most of the book, although there were some big ones in the final chapters. I had seen the final revelation of the book coming (honestly since very early on in the novel) but it was still satisfying to read. 

Overall this was not as strong as book one but I still thoroughly enjoyed it and will be moving straight onto the final book of the trilogy.
