The Hobbit
by J.R.R. Tolkien
This novel is well-deserving of its place as a classic. Tolkien creates a vast, rich world with seeming ease. As you read The Hobbit, you find yourself lost in its pages and in the adventure taken by Bilbo and the dwarves.
The film does the book an injustice; inserting unneeded romance, placing characters that don’t belong and dragging out parts of the book to stretch into 3 films. The novel is an entirely different experience. A relatively quick read, you’ll find yourself itching to read a couple of pages whenever possible.
A brilliant book by a brilliant author in a truly outstanding world. I can’t wait to immerse myself in more of Middle-earth.
