The Player Hater
by Sara Ney
I could barely put this book down it was so cute and perfect! I loved both characters so much. I loved that Davis was so far away from the player type of guy that Juliet wanted to assume he was. His awkwardness, at least in his self-talk in certain moments toward the end was just so cute! I do have to agree with Juliet though, who would book their friends who were strangers into a camper together that only had one real bed! Yeah, it had the kitchen table set up that turns into beds in most campers, but still, that was kind of rude!
These two characters being thrown together while their friends were off canoodling and having a romantic weekend was just perfect though. I loved Davis’s fear of bears or other things that might be lurking outside their camper in the dark. The group of possible swingers staying in the campground made for fun situations as well. The splitting up when the time at the campground was over was done in a way that did NOT annoy me. She understood why he had to leave without an official goodbye in the morning, and then the thing that was her excuse to see him again afterwards was perfect as well.
Yeah, yeah, they would have ended up seeing each other again at their friends’ engagement party, as so often happens in this kind of story, but I really like the way Ney gets them back together before that. Also, loved the part where Juliet said she liked to stay home in her wiener dog pajamas, because basically that is me.
