Missoula: Rape and the Justice System in a College Town
by Jon Krakauer
I am so appalled by our justice system and its inability to do just that. I’ve been angered so much by this book, I cannot describe the level of hurt I am currently feeling. My heart is broken and I am seriously upset by the lack of justice these women faced. Rapists don’t get to say they made a “mistake”, they chose to rape and then should have to face the serious consequences. Victims of rape don’t get the choice to deal or to not deal with the trauma, therefore rapists should be sent to prison, BECAUSE THEY COMMITTED A CRIME! Jon Krakauer did an amazing job of portraying the unjustness of Missoula’s police department, college, and district attorneys office. Everyone should read this book before they make any assumptions about rape cases. I don’t even know how lawyers can defend rapists and not see the damage they are prolonging to the victims. Rape is one of the most traumatic crimes that can be committed.
