For some reason I'm finding it a little difficult to explain why I love this book the way I do. Naturally I love the characters, the humor, Alex and Henry's relationship that is so sweet and sincere that I was literally tearing up at points. (Cut me some slack I'm a sensitive soul.)

If anything, I'm just glad that this story exists and that it's become as popular as it has. I'm glad that it shows the beginning and growth of a relationship between two men that genuinely love each other and find comfort in one another's presence. They're allowed to be vulnerable, emotional, smart, snarky, charming, and it all feels so natural.

Initially I was a little hesitant to pick up the book, since it's a full blown romance and that's not usually my genre, but I think the other plotlines that make up the book, like Alex's personal growth, the reelection, Henry's own trials with his family, balance it out so that it feels like just another plot thread, even though it's meant to be the main focal point. Alex and Henry's personalities also did a lot in keeping me interested, as the humor of the book shines in their dynamic and conversations with one another. Seriously, one day I hope to be able to write dialogue half as funny as this.

All in all, I think this book deserves at least some of the hype surrounding it. I had a blast reading it and now I'm considering maybe I should pick up the author's latest book.
