Written in My Own Heart's Blood
by Diana Gabaldon
This has quickly become one of my favorite Outlander books. The first book will always be my favorite, but this one delivered wonderful scenes so late in the series. What really won me over was the time period. The Revolutionary War is my favorite time period in late modern history, so it was easy for me to follow along with the new characters and locations. So many loose ends were tied up, which made this Outlander book really stand out to me. Also Ian finally found happiness! I've been waiting forever for that to happen. There were equal parts funny and thrilling moments, and the relationships between the characters are now better than they've ever been. The ending was the best that I've ever read by Gabaldon. It was so impressive the way that she used just a little description of who Jamie and Claire saw, and yet the reader knew who the people were. Such a satisfying ending!
