Animal Farm / 1984 by George Orwell
4.0

Animal Farm is the perfect length and pacing, the satirical analogy using the animals was really witty covering the Russian revolution. If the book was just Animal Farm, i would be compelled to give 5 stars.

In 1984 however the author showcases the dystopian society in great detail and I definitely felt the fear, anger and frustration that would entail living in such a society At first i felt like the protagonist was gaslighting himself into believing that his freedom was that heavily restricted. Then i was proven wrong but the whole narrative seemed a bit boring, you can almost guess what will happen next and the description of the pain seems repetitive. When the protagonist started reading the book by Goldstein I was ready to throw my book out the window :D (tbh i skipped at-least half the book and I’d recommend everyone to skip that whole part, it is basically inconsequential)
The ending was just sad but that was the whole point of the book. Showing how totalitarianism, never ending wars and censorship can affect the world. Our real world is coming dangerously close to that but i believe we still have time to protest it.
