Some of the early parts of this book were three or four star reads, but the final third was nearly unreadable, a complete mess at trying to make the present fit into a historical narrative, more racist than the parts about the civil war, and completely backtracking on the lessons characters learned in the early stories. I’ll have more later, but oh my god I’m so glad I’m done.
