In MURDER BY PAGE ONE by Olivia Matthews, our protagonist Marvey, a Black librarian whose recently moved to Peach Coast, Georgia, finds herself ensnared in a murder mystery when one of her friends becomes the prime suspect in a local murder! This cozy mystery is fast-moving and perfectly paced, with a murderer-confrontation that wasn’t drawn out and full to the brim with realistic and quirky side characters.
I will most definitely be continuing with the series and almost sobbed when I realized that the second book is due to be released all the way in SEPTEMBER, y’all. Also, Marvey being a librarian, Jo a bookstore owner, and Spence a reporter made my lil inner bibliophile so happy. I also loved how this book shows a library and a bookstore working in tandem to enrich a community.
