I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one!

Estyria claimed the throne in the last book and now she has to keep it. This book was filled with court intrigue especially with Estyria defying a traditional feudal type system. The people of the court are wary with a woman at the head of the country, often trying to make Estyria conform to her role as a woman of the court - trying to get her to marry and delegate all power to a husband. I love that, despite having fluffy and steamy scenes, Estyria wants to push for things that the people aren't used to. Speaking of the fluffy and steamy, I love the soul bonds between her, Seth, and Aedrian. They work so well together. I feel like the polyam representation is well done, like it's not toxic - they're just three recklessly, codependent babies with so much love for each other they're willing to sacrifice anything. I also think the non-binary representation was awesome between Rowan and Saik. It all just felt natural and I think that's why I love it!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and it gave me the same joy that Yona of the Dawn does - the men around Estyria often remind me of Yona of the Dawn, just trying to protect Estyria a person who is often hell-bound on something and dead set in her ways, but super compassionate and accepting of everybody even to a fault.

I'd definitely recommend this to somebody who loves a fast-paced political/historical romance, with polyam and non-binary representation, soul-bond tropes, court intrigue, with some super fluffy and steamy scenes!
