Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

Okay, seriously this author team is so good at writing friends to lovers stories and they are making me fall in love with that trope. Elliot and Macy meet when they're 14, when her dad buys a more rural cabin as their summer/weekend home outside of the city. They become fast friends, she the only child of a widowers and he the youngest of four boys in a busy and noisy household. He comes over and they read together in her closet turned library, and become not just best friends but, as Macy refers to Elliot, everyfriends (closer than family, the most important person). As they grow up they develop feelings but then something tears them apart and they don't see each other until eleven years later. The story is told in the present as they are drawn together again despite their history and their past, culminating in a bit of a reveal right at the end for the reason they were no longer in touch. I read this in a few hours one morning, which is not unusual for me, but it drew me in and made me want to stop doing everything else and read it.
