Dance Away with Me
by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
a book that deals with all layers of life.
love and lost. friendships and relationships of all kinds. death and life. losing and finding people. fighting with other, yourself, for your life, for your self.
sure the characters in this book are sometimes a bit over the top feels and i think the bullying this book had in it might have taken it a bit far... but at the same time everyone hear horror stories of small towns usa!
the characters are not likable right away but rather ones you have to grow used to and like them as they themselves learn to like themselves again, each in their own way.
what i loved about this book was defiantly that it has a unique family dynamic.
we have a baby that finds her new parents in a unique way and adds grandparents on a unique way as well.
and i think that made a beautiful story.
a different kind of adoption tale, a way to show that not all families are the same.
it’s also a book that points out a lot of things that happen to frequently still.
such as a huge lack of sex education, especially in school and in rural areas.
it talks about what can come from that lack of sex education - aka pregnancies and what that can mean for the mother not just the child.
and how hard it is to fight against such a system that holds people back and should be changed but stubbornness won’t allow people to see that it’s more important to be educated then traditional.
so it’s not a typical book.
it’s a romance but more.
it’s a contemporary bit more.
it’s a family story but more and different.
i enjoyed it a lot and i thinks it’s not only a well written story but one that’s important to share.
