The prequel to The Pillars of the Earth (TBR). This takes place 100 years before PotE and is multiple subplots going on with all the characters tying in. The main characters having a constant struggle for power, a noble monk striving to build a state-of-the-art learning center and a man patiently waiting for the woman he loves to notice him as a worthy husband.
There’s a few shocking scenes but from what I’ve heard that’s nothing new for a Follett novel. It’s quite a long book but there’s so much going on you can’t stop reading and it quickly goes by.
Recommend for any fan of Pillars of the Earth, historical fiction and people who enjoy Dark Ages settings.
