While there was nothing glaringly awful about this book, Choi's writing style was off-putting enough that I couldn't continue. Pablo was a very acerbic narrator and his stream of consciousness wasn't fun to read. Choi's use of slang was confusing, this book felt both modern and dated. She mashed together slang from both the late 2010s and the early aughts. The way Choi utilized the general urban New York voice wasn't for me. I also found the flow of the narrative jarring and confusing. Pablo would vomit out details about his life and the people around him in a rapid-fire way and I found it difficult to parse what was and wasn't important. The consistent use of this style felt like being pummeled by unnecessary detail. If this book had better reviews I could have powered through it but the generally low opinion of the story discouraged me from continuing.
