Inbetweeners
by Barbara Elsborg
An absolutely fantastic read!
Another captivating, perfectly crafted offering from this extremely talented author.
I was hooked from the first page and was completely entranced with this original and engaging story.
Emmett and Phoenix are strongly developed, flawed and complex characters who at times had my heart breaking. When first on Earth their lives were completely different apart from one commonality - a childhood filled with cruelty, although in differing forms, which shaped their lives and afterlife’s to come.
Emmett is sent from Heaven and Phoenix is raised from Hell to undertake a critical mission together.
Even though they are complete opposites and initially detest one another, they are a perfect balance to each other and slowly their relationship changes to more. The dialogue between them had me on an emotional roller coaster at times going from smiles to the odd tear or two and having “feels” as their lives (although they are very much dead) became more intertwined.
The plot is superb with the elements of romance and drama perfectly balanced and I loved every minute of the journey Emmett and Phoenix travelled to get their well deserved HEA.
