I really rather loved this book. It is quirky, imaginative, a little bizarre and just plain fun to read. 

The main characters are a slightly eccentric bunch - the young eponymous accidental wizard, a young hag who has the misfortune (in her eyes!) to be fairly pretty, an egotistical gnome, and a magpie of variable size. 

The writing is very easy and enjoyable to read and the fast pace kept my interest throughout. This is a middle grade that I will be recommending to my nephews, and to any other kids or adults who enjoy reading magical and ridiculous adventures.
