You Can Thank Me Later
by Kelly Harms
4.5 stars. I really liked this. (Free) "bitty book" novella, included in AudiblePlus. The author's name sounded familiar, and I have read some of her full-length books (Overdue Life, Bright Side of Going Dark, Seven Day Switch) and liked them. This was short and sweet - maybe I should have listened back in November, closer to Thanksgiving, as that's when this story takes place (over a few years, different Thanksgiving days).
As this was made direct to audio ... I didn't love the repetition of the outgoing answering machine message. That happens in some books, where something is fine in print (something the eyes skim or skip), but sounds so monotonous in audio.
The three years, the changes in life and character ... fun to follow. I got attached, cared about everyone, understood the issues. I did predict the end (return of a love interest).
