It was a bit of a ride to go from Lumberjanes to this, but under everything else, they have a common thread of the strength of friendship between girls and women.



But the bar fights are all Rat Queens. Foul-mouthed and violent, the Rat Queens are ladies after my own heart. My favorite one of them changes depending on the panel; they're all great, fully-realized characters. This volume starts out as we discover that someone is trying to kill the mercenary companies in the town the Rat Queens reside in, after they narrowly escape their own trapped quest, complete with a black-clad assassin. The Rat Queens do their best to investigate discreetly, which is basically an impossibility for them. Betty solves it accidentally while the rest of the react to a new, different threat.
