I've gone back and forth on how to rate this because on the one hand, it's an important narrative to have in the middle grade section and the verse is well done. I also appreciated the way therapy was portrayed as a positive experience, because middle grade readers definitely need to see that therapy is a positive thing. 

I know this has gotten a lot of positive buzz, and I can understand why! I think I just wanted more balance and more character development. Honestly, I think this story would have worked better as a prose novel because it would have given Ellie more room to grow. Do I think a lot of middle grade readers are going to find themselves in this novel? Yes. Just be sure they're in the right headspace to do so!
