History shows/proves that the unwritten traditions of democracy tend to be the downfall. The United States has two unwritten traditions that have been diminishing since the 1980s, and under the current administration, they are freefalling. The two norms in American Politics that are written and assumed are these: mutual toleration: realizing that if the rivals not in power they have a right to exist. The second is Institutional forbearance: is showing restraint in the powers that they have. This book explains the history of other democracies that have failed and what the current state of the United States when it comes to these two unwritten traditions.
