My thoughts are a little all over with this one. I liked it, I didn't love it. I will probably read book 2.

My main complaint is the pacing. The beginning was good. I was hooked and excited to get into the story, but chapter 6-9ish really dragged. It started to pick up at chapter 10, but then slowed down again. And then the last 100 pages flew by.

There is a love triangle in this book, but you don't meet MMC #2 until about 50%. MMC #1 wasn't my favorite, I didn't feel the excitement or tension so that probably adds to the dragging I felt in those chapters. MMC #2 I LOVED. There is just something about a grumpy man who seems like her hates the woman, but would literally die for her. It's my cup of tea.

I don't read a ton of fae/faerie books, but I liked this one. I enjoyed the world building and magic system. It went as in depth as I would expect out of a romantasy, and the world felt well thought out. Being in Lore's point of view we got to learn the history slowly throughout the book as Lore learned, instead of a big dump at the beginning.

It does end in a plot twist/ cliff hanger!
